Most AI work fails for unglamorous reasons: it never connects to the real systems, nobody owns it, and no one on staff was taught to run it. We come from thirty years of shipping software inside regulated industries, so those are the parts we take seriously.

Lee Felican Jr. has spent thirty years designing and shipping systems for industries where being wrong is expensive — federal defense, financial services, healthcare, energy, blockchain and legal technology. That background is the reason Felican AI builds the way it does: privately by default, with access control and an audit trail from the first deployment rather than bolted on after a review. He is also Director of Artificial Intelligence at Resolution Economics, where he works on AI applied to legal and economic analysis.
He founded Felican AI to put that same engineering discipline behind AI for businesses that are not the Fortune 500 — the manufacturer whose specifications cannot leave the building, the practice whose records are protected, the contractor losing work to a phone nobody answers. He writes about it too: four books on AI, including The BIG AI Book and Stop Being Nice to AI, all written in plain language for people who have to make a decision rather than build a model.
