AI for banks, credit unions and lenders

AI for Banks, credit unions and lenders

A borrower waiting on a document checklist is a borrower who will take the other lender call.

The problem, specifically

Lending runs on paperwork. A single application can involve pay stubs, tax returns, bank statements, identification, appraisals and signed disclosures, each arriving in a different format and often incomplete. Staff spend large parts of the day finding out what is missing and asking for it again.

The phones carry the same repetitive load for banks and credit unions: branch hours, card issues, wire cutoffs, application status, where to send a form. Most of it is routine and some of it is urgent, such as a lost card, and the two sound alike at first.

Customer financial data is among the most sensitive a business holds, which is why a public AI tool is usually a policy violation before it is a technical question.

What we deploy

Voice AI

Handles branch information, application status questions where connected, and document checklists. Lost or stolen card and suspected fraud calls are escalated to a person immediately instead of being handled by the AI.

Felican IDP

Reads pay stubs, statements, tax forms and identification into structured fields for the loan file, flagging low-confidence values and mismatches for a processor to review.

Private AI

Lets staff search policy manuals, procedures and product terms in plain language, with answers that cite the source document. It runs inside your own environment.

What makes this different in your trade

Fraud and lost-card calls go to a person

These are the calls where speed and judgement both matter. The AI recognizes them, says what the caller should do next, and hands over to staff with the details captured.

Missing-document chasing

Knowing exactly which item is missing from which file, and asking the borrower for that item once, clearly, saves a lot of back-and-forth. It is a reading and follow-up task and a good fit for automation.

It does not make credit decisions

Approving, declining or pricing a loan stays with your underwriters. The AI prepares the file and does not decide it.

Cited answers for staff

An answer about a fee schedule or a policy is only useful if the person can see which document it came from. Retrieval returns the source with the answer.

Questions people actually ask

Before you call

Can it verify a caller's identity?

That is a design decision for each institution. Most start with non-account calls only and leave authentication and account discussion with staff or existing systems.

Will extraction errors reach the loan file?

Values below a confidence threshold go to a person instead of being written in. Extraction is checked against the source document, and the document is always kept alongside the extracted data.

Does it keep us within our regulatory obligations?

No tool does that by itself. We implement private hosting, access control and logging, and we are clear about which obligations remain with the institution. Your compliance team owns that assessment.
